The Fourteenth General Conference of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought (Love in the Holy Qur’an)

Our Islamic World is going through a very difficult stage in its history; perhaps the most difficult.

While it is trying to catch up with modern age and contribute to its march- as it did over the ages- the Muslim World it targeted by an aggressive assault that touches upon its belief, and questions its human values, in a way that hurt people's feelings, and reaffirmed- at the same time- their belief, and their love for the Prophet- peace be upon him.

The assault also dared to accuse the Holy Quran as being the mover behind terrorism and extremism, as a result of the misconceptions and misunderstandings held by those who made the assault.
Time is due now, for the sake of Muslims and non-Muslims alike, to uncover the deep - rooted call for love - in its broadest terms - in the Holy Quran:
Allah Almighty's love for people, people's love for Allah, the Prophet's love for people, people's love for the Prophet, peace be upon him, love for creatures, and love for others.
All of those are great meanings embedded in the Muslim's soul, due to his education which is derived from the Holy Quran and the Honoured Sunnah of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

Thus, it was decided to have:

Love in the Holy Quran

As the main topic of the Institute's General Conference that will be convened from the morning of Tuesday 22 Sha`ban 1428 H.- September 4th, 2007 C.E., to Friday 25 Sha`ban 1428H.- September 7th, 2007 C.E.

We hope that dealing with this topic will highlight the concepts and values of compassion, tolerance and Ihsan, which reveal the humane Islamic side which our Ummah needs in its search for unity and the world needs in its quest to love in peace and security.
